What if you walked into your birth knowing exactly what to expect?

Not the Hollywood version. Not the scary stories from your aunty. Not the vague reassurances of “your body knows what to do.”

The real version. The honest version. What actually happens — moment by moment — and exactly how to prepare for it.

That's what this day is.

Hi, I'm Leoni 👋

I'm a midwife. I've spent the last 10 years catching babies, holding hands through transition, and watching thousands of women navigate the most powerful day of their lives.

As a Gold Coast midwife, I created this birth education workshop to give couples the kind of antenatal preparation that hospital classes don't have time for.

I've seen what makes birth feel empowering — and I've seen what makes it traumatic. The difference, almost every time, comes down to one thing: how prepared the woman and her partner were before they walked into that room.

Not just “what is a contraction” prepared. Really prepared.

  • Prepared to know when to stay home and when to go in.
  • Prepared to understand what's being offered to them and what they can decline.
  • Prepared to advocate for the birth they actually want.
  • Prepared for what comes after — the part nobody talks about.

That's why I built this workshop. To give you the honest, evidence-based, no-fluff preparation I wish every woman I'd ever cared for had walked in with.

This workshop is for you if…

  • You're pregnant and planning a hospital birth on the Gold Coast
  • You're looking for birth preparation classes or antenatal education near the Gold Coast
  • You want to feel informed, not scared
  • You want your partner to actually know what to do on the day
  • You're tired of generic “breathe through it” advice
  • You want to understand your rights, your options, and your voice in the room
  • You believe birth can be powerful — and you want to be ready for it

The day, module by module

What we'll cover

Six focused modules across the day — the medical, the practical, and the parts most classes skip entirely.

What actually happens in labour

The real timeline. The real sensations. The real stages — and how to recognise where you are in them.

Coping at home + knowing when to go in

The single most important thing most classes skip. How to stay home as long as is safe, and exactly when to head to hospital.

Nervous system regulation for birth

Why a calm nervous system makes labour easier — and the breathing, anchoring, and environment techniques that get you there.

Positions + optimal fetal positioning

A hands-on practical: 8+ positions to use through labour, plus how to help your baby find the easiest path through your pelvis.

Consent, hospital policies + how to say no

Your legal rights. The BRAIN framework. Scripts to use when you're asked to consent to something you're not sure about. We'll practice this together.

The postnatal period — what no one tells you

The first 24 hours, the first 2 weeks, the hormonal cliff, the mental load, the village you need. Preparation for the part of motherhood that catches everyone off guard.

What you'll walk away with

  • A printed workbook covering every module
  • Take-home cards for your hospital bag (BRAIN framework, positions, early labour checklist)
  • A birth plan template
  • A postnatal prep checklist
  • Direct DM access to me for 30 days after the workshop
  • A partner who actually knows what to do
  • The confidence to walk into your birth on your terms
